What is the climate crisis about?
So when I asked this question at the bar, I was first mocked. Everyone immediately knew that I was Canadian. Even the Irish were laughing at me. It would appear that we Canadians say ‘about’ in an amusing way.
Inevitably people of every political view chimed in. Here were some of the answers:
Debbie Dooley, a member of the Tea Party…now the Green Tea Party spoke heartfelt. Her words of inspiration challenged each and every person to make climate change front and centre in EVERY election.
“Being good stewards of our environment, craving energy choice and freedom is not a leftist issue. It’s not a radical right issue. It’s an American issue.”
It doesn’t matter what politics you believe in. Stewardship transcends politics. It is a human responsibility. Sadly we have divided by political lines but now it has become a global issue. It will a true test of our collective character to stand up and fight for our common home.
Oh and as a Canadian…why is it not front and centre in our election? We too are North Americans.
